No. Once you've downloaded an AI model, Deadzone works completely offline. No Wi-Fi, no cellular data, no connection of any kind is needed to chat with the AI.

If you have an older or lower-storage device, start with Qwen 2.5 1.5B (~950 MB). For most modern iPhones, Llama 3.2 3B (~2 GB) is a great balance of quality and speed. If you want the best possible answers and have the storage, go with Qwen 3 4B (~2.3 GB).

Apple Intelligence is Apple's on-device AI system available on iOS 26+. If your device supports it, Deadzone can use it without any model download. It's optional — you can always use one of the downloadable Llama/Qwen models instead.

Download times depend on your connection speed and model size. On a typical Wi-Fi connection, expect 5–15 minutes for the smaller models and up to 30 minutes for the larger ones. We recommend downloading before heading into the wilderness.

Never. All AI inference happens entirely on your device. Your messages, questions, and conversation history are not transmitted anywhere. There are no user accounts and no analytics collection of any kind.

Deadzone Pro is a subscription that unlocks premium features and supports ongoing development. Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store and can be cancelled at any time from your Apple ID settings.

Open your iPhone's Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → find Deadzone → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage it at reportaproblem.apple.com. Cancelling stops future charges; your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Open the Settings tab in the app. You'll see all available models listed there. Tap any model to download it, then tap "Load" to activate it. Only one model can be active at a time.

If a download is interrupted, go to Settings and tap the model again to resume or restart the download. Make sure you have enough free storage on your device and a stable internet connection while downloading.

AI models can make mistakes. Never rely solely on Deadzone in a genuine life-threatening emergency — always try to reach emergency services (911) first. If you notice a specific issue with the app's responses, please contact us so we can look into improving the system prompt.

Deadzone requires iOS 17 or later. Apple Intelligence features require iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence enabled on a supported device. Downloadable Llama models work on any supported iPhone with sufficient storage.

Yes. Open the Settings tab and tap "Restore Purchases". Your Deadzone Pro subscription will be restored as long as you're signed in to the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
